First day of Baking Class in Maya Kitchen in Makati..late by 30 minutes :( the traffic was really awful this morning that eventhough I traveled early from the hills of Antipolo it still took me 2 hours to reach Makati..good thing filipino time reigns supreme..:)
I've attended cooking classes before but my first impression of Maya Kitchen is "it's clean" and not "shabby"..so maybe the K's wouldn't be for nothing here..
The training directress came and she's a smiley person which has 30 years experience in the field..:) I just didn't get her name so i just have to find out tomorrow..:)
She started speaking about the rudimentary things about baking since nobody in our class had formal training . She termed us all "virgins"!! hehehe..
Then she started the demos making the sweets we're going to make later..she made it look so easy!
After lunch time it's our time to shine...or burn! Commotion runs wild on group II but ours is as serene as the cold winter wind since our chatty supervising baker clearly explained to us how to do every thing step by step and with all the group members having a hands on experience..time moves on and eveything seems fine until we tried doing the empanaditas..there's some problem with the dough..it breaks when we try to mold it..oh well...anyhow the pineapple pie went smoothly and the eclairs was ok...time for clean up while waiting for the baking period..
Everything you cook in class you end up eating it..so here goes nothing....hmmm..the eclairs is good except it lacks the pomp in visual delectability and the empanaditas regardless of the broken dough was great!! For the pineapple pie we had to wait until the next day because it's baked longer...can't wait to try that!!
