le Chef

My dear sister Ana had her birthday lunch last Feb 18 in a new resto along C. Raymundo street in Pasig  called Kung Fu Tea House...as the name suggest all the staff and crew there are wanna be Bruce Lee's..Just joking! Anyhow you can't miss the large portrait of the star once you come inside the premises..and red is all around! hmmm..signifies good luck in chinese I believe..

crackling pig
If you look at the menu their prices is not that steep compared to other restos but as one of the co-owner told me they are trying to provide better quality food at reasonable prices..something that will appeal to a larger strata of the society.

I was told that their specialty dish will be the crackling pig, which is slow roasted pork belly done until the skin is crispy while the meat is still juicy inside..this is like our traditional lechon kawali but done healthier because it is not deep-fried in mega cholesterol oil..paired with garlic rice perfect for tummy busting moves..gotta watch out for that..:)

Ofcourse any chinese resto worth it's salt couldn't be complete without the veggies , noodles and the dimsums..so here comes the chopseuy, pancit canton and siomai. The co owner-slash-chef told me that they don't use any kind of MSG (i.e. ajinomoto) in cooking..which is a big U-turn for chinese food which is basically characterized by how much your body can tolerate this stuff..:) The chopseuy served to us is brimming with liver, gizzards, and sausages. The veggies are cooked just about right which still retains the crispiness and freshness..The pancit canton was not that dramatic and I found out that it's alittle bit on the salty side..but that is my taste.!!.everybody has different salt thresholds..:) The siomais comes in traditional bamboo steamers in group of fours..This I really liked because I found that even without the soya and galic condiment..these siomais are yummy!! Thumbs up for that!!

Some more dishes came like the Kung fu Chicken, the Sweet & Sour Pork, Spicy pork Spare Ribs, Butchi, Lemon Fish but by that time I was already stuffed like a pig and my diastolic levels are reaching critical levels so I just nibbled these creations..It will be better if you're going to visit this resto with just one meal on mind to try ..then work your way up the menu until you get which one will be your favorite..:) saying that ,"We" had to come back there! (",)

I still haven't tried the teas they are serving....it's a TEA house after all...
